About the Product:

TheraSox by LPT Products is the first class of a Medical Grade 20-30mmHG graduated compression sock. It is designed to have a firm fit, yet still be comfortable.

20-30 mmHG:

The 20-30 mmHg level of compression is the first medical grade compression and is the most commonly used because it provides sufficient compression to your legs without feeling too compressive or strong. Compression levels are indicated with a range of numbers like “20-30 mmHg”, which means the amount of compression will not fall below 20 mmHg and not exceed 30 mmHg. The unit of measurement is called “millimeters of mercury” which is a measurement of pressure, also used in blood pressure.

Ideal Use for 20-30mmHG:

20-30 mmHg level of compression is great for managing swelling in your legs, varicose veins, travel related swelling, spider veins, post-sclerotherapy treatment to help prevent the reappearance of varicose veins, swelling after playing sports, swelling after sports-related injuries, post-op/swelling after surgery, swelling due to prolonged standing, poor circulation from sitting long periods, swelling experienced by pregnant mothers, relieves superficial thrombophlebitis, orthostatic hypotension (sudden drop in blood pressure when standing), moderate to severe edema, lymphatic edema, helps prevent DVT’s (blood clots), and many more people experiencing swelling are seeing the benefits of wearing 20-30mmHG compression socks. If you have never worn compression socks, you may want to consider starting in a sock that provides less compression initially.

Graduated Compression:

TheraSox with “graduated compression” means the compression is strongest at the ankle and gets lighter as you go up the leg which is the direction you want the compression to go. This very special way of knitting TheraSox allows circulation to improve up and out of the legs. Not all compression sock manufacturers properly graduate the compression, so be sure to only wear socks with proper graduated compression.

Prevention:

TheraSox can be used as a preventive measure to maintain healthy legs for someone who sits for prolonged periods or spends extensive amounts of time on their feet. When standing for prolonged periods, the forces of gravity increases the pressure in the veins of the legs, greatest at the ankles, and decreases gradually up the legs. This is why graduated compression socks are designed with the pressure greatest at the ankle and decreases as it moves up the leg to counter-act venous pressure.
